Employability Training and Job Creation
Employment Training

The development of any country is directly related to the quantity and quality of vocational skills possessed by its workforce. The looming concern, however, is that a major portion of the Indian workforce does not possess marketable skills. Only 5% of India’s youth obtain formal vocational training. This proves to be a colossal impediment while seeking worthwhile employment. There are an estimated one million new entrants in India’s workforce every year that require career training. Our country is home to 287 million individuals in the age group of 15-29 years.

At Comat, our employability training services allow enhancement of professional skills and are targeted at equipping individuals with specific skills to provide them a doorway into manpower intensive sectors of the Indian economy. Our trainers instill self-employment skills in candidates through a large number of talent enrichment courses. These include basic organizational discipline (attendance, timelines, work ethic etc.), reporting using computers, typing skills, customer handling and service, cash handling, sales expertise, sales promotion and basic spoken English.

We are committed in our efforts to explore post-training placement opportunities within Comat’s wide network of Rural Business Centers. We also have direct tie ups for candidate placement with companies like TeamLease.

The Comat Training Platforms

Computer-based Training (CBT):

Through the CBT platform, a student learns by executing special training programs on a computer at the Comat RBC. This is an effective training method for use of computer applications as it can be integrated with the application and the student can practice using the application as they learn. Comat has in place an interactive instructional education program through a Studio-Satellite-VSAT-RBC based Broadcast. The Trainer comes to Comat’s studio and the training session is beamed live through satellite using broadband connectivity. VSATs at the Comat RBC capture the live broadcast, which is then played on the monitor/screen for the students. Special software permits interactivity between students and trainers, facilitating open channels of communication.

On-the-job Training:

Most youth in rural India do not have the option of working in a professional environment. They possess the required raw skills without any experience in application. On-the-job training by Comat describes training that is given in a normal working situation, using the actual tools, equipment, documents or materials that the student will use when fully trained. On-the-job training is effective for vocational work where the candidate is provided with market relevant skills for better recruitment options.

Internship:

Internship is the culmination of a formal education process through which trainees learn to apply the breadth of knowledge to their professional roles. Internships offered by Comat allow rural candidates to develop useful skills and gain valuable exposure, providing them job experience to show on their resumes and giving them an understanding of the career field and future prospects. Internships at Comat include teaching of disciplinary skills, instilling basic organizational discipline (attendance, timelines, work ethic etc.), learning to fill out expense sheets etc.
