CEO & Co-Founder
As the Chief Executive Officer of Comat, Sriram Raghavan is at the forefront of a pioneering organization that provides government and private information services to citizens across rural India. Since he assumed the role of President at Comat in 2002, the company has doubled revenues year on year and Sriram has overseen the creation of the largest company owned network of Rural Business Centers in India. Currently, he is responsible for driving revenue growth and interacting with key customers, partners and investors of the company.
Earlier, Sriram was the co-founder of Comat Data Services in the US, which was subsequently sold in 2000. Through these years, he remained active in the community as an advisor and mentor to non-profit organizations including the Sustainable Business Institute and Startup EPA, both based in Silicon Valley, USA. He has also worked with Fortune 100 companies and assisted startups in the Bay area. Sriram returned to India in late 2003 to Comat Technologies, Bangalore and continued to work on several initiatives with State Governments.
Sriram has traveled extensively to villages in India and fully understands the needs, limitations and opportunities present in the rural landscape. It is this learning and insight that has propelled Comat to become a strong social enterprise in India, growing at an average of 300% per year. Sriram has been invited by the Government of India to play a crucial role in strategizing several policy initiatives at the state and national level. He also works closely with Poverty Action Lab at MIT and academia from Harvard. In recognition of his work, he has been nominated for the Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the World Technology Network in the year 2005 and also for the Super Achiever of the Year in 2006.
Sriram holds a Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering.
Chief Operating Officer
As Comat’s Chief Operating Officer, Shashi K. Patil brings his wide-ranging experience in sales, marketing, operations, recruitment, delivery and organization building to the company. He manages the operations of Comat on a national scale. This includes overseeing project sites across 11 states and diverse geographic locations across the country. Shashi has close to two decades of experience in various industry sectors with over 8 years in Information Technology alone.
Shashi moved to Comat from Marlabs where as the Chief Executive Officer, he managed the establishment of the software delivery center and facilitated the rapid integration of the US and Indian operations of the company.
Prior to Marlabs, Shashi was the Director and Chief Operating Officer of SystemLogic, where he was responsible for launching its India operations. He was instrumental in the company achieving revenues of USD 8 million. With Shashi at the helm, SystemLogic emerged as a dominant player in Bangalore’s corporate training market and he was in-charge of forging alliances with key technology providers such as Microsoft, Oracle and Sybase. Before this, Shashi was with a large business group in the Middle East handling Sales and International procurement functions. He has also held key positions with Eicher Motors and the TVS Group.
Shashi is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from KREC, Surathkal and also has an MBA in Marketing from IIM, Ahmedabad.
Chief Financial Officer
Shrihari Kulkarni is the Chief Financial Officer at Comat. His job responsibilities include coordinating finance related activities like resource raising and monitoring, improving efficiencies and in turn positively impacting the company’s profitability. Under his purview, Comat has set in place improved systems and processes to build robust financials that could eventually lead up to a public offering.
Prior to joining Comat, Shrihari was at a Venture Capital Fund by a wholly owned subsidiary of an all India financial institution. Shrihari is a rare combination of excellence in Engineering, Management and Finance. He graduated from the London School of Economics where he was enrolled on a Chevening scholarship. Shrihari also completed his B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering from Rahuri, Maharastra and his PGDM from IIM-Ahmedabad.
Head, North India Operations
Anamoy Ranjan oversees Comat’s business operations in North India. Anamoy has over 18 years experience in handling distribution networks, supply chains and in setting up businesses in the White Goods and Luxury Holiday categories where he has worked with companies like Whirlpool, Godrej-GE and Club Mahindra.
Over the last three years, Anamoy has been involved with the Kiosk initiatives of Tarahaat and n-Logue in senior roles. Anamoy passionately believes that business thinking combined with development issues in rural India, will lead to an ecosystem of vibrant social enterprises that are able to rapidly enhance rural GDP, and provide sustainable livelihood options to people in villages.
Anamoy holds an MBA from IIM - Lucknow and a Bachelors degree in Engineering from the Banaras Hindu University.
Head, East & West Operations
Vivek Naidu is based in Mumbai and heads operations at Comat for West and East Regions. He is responsible for leading the company’s Rural Business Centre initiative in Sikkim, Tripura, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Vivek has worked for two decades in the Indian IT industry in Business Development, Systems Integration, Consulting and Customer Support, in companies like HCL (later HCL HP Ltd.), Patni Computers, ICIM and 3i Infotech Ltd.
Vivek holds a first class BE degree in Electrical Engineering from REC Durgapur, and has undergone a Certificate Course in Management from Xavier’s Labour Relations Institute, Jamshedpur. He is listed on the International Register of Certificated Auditors, UK as a certified Auditor on Information Security for ISO 27001.
